Focus On Camps: School of Rock Montclair

Four camp themes will be offered in June, July, and August.

 

has announced the camps that they will hold in the summer months of 2012. Each camp is designed for musicians with specific levels of ability and experience.

“For the first time, we’re gearing our summer camps to appeal to young musicians of all abilities, from absolute beginners to aspiring pros,” says Matt Sandoski, owner of School of Rock Montclair. “While the musicianship requirements for each camp will vary, the emphasis will be the same:  fun, energy, and fist-pumping loudness!”

School of Rock Montclair’s summer camp schedule is as follows:

DISCOVER ROCK N’ ROLL (6/25 to 6/29; 8/27 to 8/31)
Beginning musicians (7 years old and up) will rock out to hits by KISS, Green Day, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and more. The week will end with a Friday afternoon open house concert and pizza lunch.

ROOTS, ROCK, REGGAE (Beginning to intermediate, 8 yrs. and up - 7/9 to 7/14; intermediate to advanced, 10 yrs. and up - 8/6 to 8/11)
Musicians will explore the intersections of funk, rock, and reggae. Songs to be featured includes hits by Parliament/Funkadelic, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, James Brown, and more. The camp will wrap up with a Saturday lunchtime camper concert at Just Jake's in Montclair, featuring performances of songs learned during the week.

SONGWRITING AND RECORDING CAMP (7/16 to 7/28)
In this unique two week camp, advanced musicians (10 years old and up) will write and record their own original music using state-of-the-art digital studio equipment. Campers will enlist their fellow campers as "session players" when recording their songs. Music industry professionals will join the campers throughout the two weeks to discuss such topics as songwriting, recording, and the "business" of the music business. The camp will wrap up with a Saturday lunchtime concert on 7/28 featuring performances of the campers' original music at Just Jake's in Montclair. Campers will receive a fully produced CD album of their original music, along with the music of their fellow campers.

RADIO X – 2.0 (Beginning to intermediate, 8 yrs. and up - 7/30 to 8/4; intermediate to advanced, 10 yrs. and up - 8/13 to 8/18)
Musicians will learn the biggest alternative rock hits of the last two decades by bands such as Weezer, The Foo Fighters, The Killers, Kings of Leon, MGMT, Coldplay, and more. The camp will wrap up with a Saturday lunchtime camper concert at Just Jake's in Montclair, featuring performances of songs learned during the week.

Special savings are also available for multiple camp week sign-ups. Parents of new students who sign up for a camp week will receive 50% savings off of the first month of Rock 101 or Performance Program tuition.
