July 4th Picnic Will Double As Food-Drop Donation Site

Come out to Edgemont Park on Wednesday and don't forget

Montclair's annual Township Fourth of July picnic will be held immediately following the parade at Edgemont Park on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature tasty treats from vendors including Church Street Catering and Applegate Farms as well as a wide variety of live music. Musicians scheduled to play include Carrie Cantor, Malcolm Marsden, Dr. Julian Paul Keenan, Guitaro 5000 & Straight Nasty, Bob Cannon, Michael Reitman, Daniel McBride-13 Hands, Meg Beattie, and a few surprise guests. (Remember how Billy Karcher of the Fabulous Flemtones showed up last year? He may just show up again on Wednesday.)

This year's Fourth of July Township Picnic also will double as a designated food-drop
donation site for the Montclair Human Needs Food Pantry.

Deanna London, director of the charity group, expressed her thanks to the community for its continued support.

"We appreciate all donations, year round, especially in the summertime when schools are closed. Families we service need to provide extra meals for their children in the summer," she said. "We accept canned and boxed goods, soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, detergents, toilet tissue and shopping bags. Certain perishable items are welcome, such as fresh vegetables, fruit and bread."

The Human Needs Food Pantry will celebrate its 25th year of service in Montclair this September.
