Montclair iCamp Launches Fifth Summer of Activities

New this summer is a section on video broadcasting. Campers will star in their own commercials and create short films.

Do you have an iKid — a child obsessed with all things technology? 

Then you'll want to know about iCamp, which is launching a fifth summer of activities on July 1.

"Technology is so important to education," said Howard Weinrib, Glenfield Middle School's Technology Coordinator, Montclair Adult Education Director and founder of iCamp. 

Weinrib said iCamp is cutting edge and helps the camper perform well in common core classes using educational technology.

Patrick Krenn and Mike Freedman round out the trio of iCamp "counselors."

"We feature iPads, movie making, digital photography, music creation, video game technology, and all the latest gadgets that are current in today's' world," Weinrib said.

New this summer is a section on video broadcasting. Campers will star in their own commercials and create short films using green screen technology and movie quality special effects. 

Here's what you need to know:

Accepting: Grades 3 to 8
Camp Location: Glenfield Middle School (25 Maple Ave., Montclair, NJ)
Camp Director: Howard Weinrib
 

Camp Dates:

Week 1 (July 1 - 5, no camp Thursday July 4th): Digital Photography, Video Broadcasting, Green Screen Commercials, Fitness Arcade, Minecraft, Creating mini Video Games.

Week 2 (July 8-12): Podcasting, Video Broadcasting, Green Screen, Short Films, Fitness Arcade, Minecraft, Creating mini Video Games.

Week 3 (July 15-19): Creating mini video games, History of Video Games, Video Broadcasting, Green Screen, Short Film - Documentaries, Fitness Arcade, Minecraft.

Week 4 (July 22-26): Digital Graphic Arts Web 2.0 applications, Google applications, Green Screen, Short Films, Fitness Arcade, Minecraft, Creating mini Video Games.

Week 5 (July 29 - August 2): Basic Coding & Development, Video Broadcasting, Fitness Arcade, Minecraft, Creating mini Video Games.

Week 6 (August 5-9): Mac vs. PC Commercials, Video Broadcasting, Green Screen, Short Films - Documentaries, Fitness Arcade, Minecraft, Creating mini Video Games.

Camp Times: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday
