Any Olympic Athletes Call Montclair Home?

Not an Olympian, but Eli Manning is in town filming a commercial.

 

The Giants' Eli Manning has been in Montclair this week filming a TV commercial for Toyota at Yantacaw Brook Park, according to Baristanet.

With the Olympics starting this week in London, Montclair Patch decided to take a look at all the major sports stars who have called Montclair home.

When it comes to Olympic athletes, Patch was only able to come up with one who grew up in Montclair:

—Rich Kenah (born 1970) attended Immaculate Conception High School before becocming a middle distance runner who won bronze medals over 800 meters at the 1997 World Indoor Championships and at the 1997 World Championships in Athens. Kenah was a member of the U.S. Team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

But there are quite a few other overall sports stars who have lived in Montclair. Among them:

—Quintus McDonald attended Montclair High School and was USA Today's Defensive Player of the Year in 1984, and went on to play for Penn State and the Indianapolis Colts.

—David Tyree (born 1980) attended Montclair High School and was an NFL wide receiver for the New York Giants.

—Bob Bradley (born 1958) was soccer coach of the Egypt national football team and former manager of the United States men's national soccer team.

—Sean Jones (born 1962) was defensive end who played for the Raiders, Oilers, and the Packers, where he played in the 1997 Super Bowl championship.

Of course, there's also the great Yogi Berra (born 1925) who was a baseball player and manager with the New York Yankees and New York Mets.
