Summer Classes at Van Vleck

Van Vleck Gardens will offer botanical and horticultural classes.


Join Laura Roberts, Garden Manager of Van Vleck House & Gardens, for in-depth explorations of botanical and horticultural topics in a monthly series meeting on the third Friday of every month.

Pre-registration is required. To register, call 973-744-4752 or e-mail Michelle at education@vanvleck.org. Registration deadline is the Monday prior to each class. Classes are free for Friends of Van Vleck and $5 for others.

Date: Friday, July 20, 1-2:30 p.m.

Topic: Basic Entomology. In this introduction to the zoology of insects, participants will learn the basics of insect anatomy. An overview of insect orders and their
characteristics will also be included in the session.

Date: Friday, August 17, 1-2:30 p.m.

Topic: Tree Identification: Maples. Participants will learn to distinguish one species from another in the genus Acer by viewing various samples. They will then have an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice with a guided walk among the maple species in the Van Vleck Gardens.
