Superintendent MacCormack had a problem with a data breach in her previous job
In 2012, the NJDOE discovered that a data breach had occurred with two of their AHSA Mathematics tests. Penny MacCormack was on staff at the NJDOE at the time. Here’s the letter about the incident from the NJDOE (MacCormack is cc’d on page 2):

MacCormack should have learned the importance of keeping department data safe from security breaches – but apparently she didn’t. The breach that happened in Montclair, whether it was intentional or because of a sloppy mistake, could have been prevented with more stringent systems in place to thwart unauthorized uploads, malware/trawling infestations, and everything in between.
