Julianne Moore Visits Library, Studio Montclair Exhibit, Health Screenings

What's happening in Montclair this week and what stories Patch plans to cover.

The Montclair Town Council will hold a conference meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The town's health department will conduct a Thyroid Cancer and Carotid Artery Screening, on Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Montclair Municipal Building, 205 Claremont Ave. Cost is $30. Appointment required. A complete blood profile screening is available for $36 on Friday. Appointments are also required. 

Gabrielle Glaser, author of "Her Best-Kept Secret," will be at Watchung Booksellers on Wednesday, at 7 p.m.

Actress/author Julianne Moore will read from her new book, "My Mom Is a Foreigner, But Not to Me," at the Montclair Public Library on Friday, at 4 p.m. The event is full, but you can sign up for the waiting list by contacting Watchung Booksellers at or 973-744-7177 or info@watchungbooksellers.com.

Studio Montclair's new exhibit “Photo-Surrealism,” Manipulating Reality and Visual Surprises, opens at the SMI Gallery at Academy Square on Friday. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Lacordaire Academy Flea Market is Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 155 Lorraine Ave.

It's time for the Upper Montclair Business District Sidewalk Sale. There will be special discounts and family fun on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
