Brad Parks Talks at Library, Planning Board, Council Convene This Week

A look at what's happening in Montclair and what stories Patch plans to cover.

The Montclair Planning Board will hold a regular meeting on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Board members are expected to briefly discuss next steps of the Land Use and Circulation Element of the Master Plan before attending to regular business. At the third and final public hearing on the 30-year plan for growth, residents presented their opinions for and against the plan, which would allow buildings up to seven-stories high in Upper Montclair.

The Montclair Council will hold a conference meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. There will be public hearings on several ordinances, including: 

— Ordinance governing maintenance of vacant properties (property registration) in the Township of Montclair (R_13_029)
— Ordinance establishing Abandoned Properties List (O_13_030)
— Ordinance banning smoking on public library grounds (O_13_032)
— Ordinance establishing Chronic Nuisance Properties Regulations (O_13_033)

The Montclair Community Band will hold a free concert on the lawn outside Montclair High School on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Bring your folding chairs and blankets. 

The Montclair Public Library’s With the Author Summer 2013 series continues on Wednesday with award-winning mystery author Brad Parks

Louis Prima Jr. & The Witnesses will perform a free concert Friday as part of the Essex County Free Summer Music at Brookdale Park.
