Veterans Day Observance, Centro Verde Groundbreaking

What's happening in Montclair this week and what stories Patch plans to cover.

Municipal offices will be closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day. A ceremony will be held in Edgemont Park at 11 a.m.

Developers LCOR and The Pinnacle Companies, along with local, county and state officials, will celebrate the groundbreaking of Centro Verde on Tuesday, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the development site, 638 Bloomfield Ave. 

The Montclair Council will convene on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a council meeting. Municipal Court Judge Kenneth Strait will be sworn-in prior the meeting in the Council Chambers at 6:30 p.m.

First Ward Councilor William Hurlock will host a community meeting on Thursday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Bellevue Avenue Branch of the Montclair Public Library, 185 Bellevue Ave.

The League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area will hold a meeting for new and prospective members on Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m., at Union Congregation Church, 176 Cooper Ave., Upper Montclair.

The Montclair Mounties football team is top seed in the state tournament. The defending champs will face 8th-seeded North Bergen at home in round one on Saturday.

The PAWS Annual Holiday Bazaar will take place Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., at the Commonwealth Club in Upper Montclair 26 Northview Ave., Upper Montclair.
