Peanuts, as You've Never Seen Them Before, in "Dog Sees God"

The parody play presents teens modeled after Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown.

What would happen if the Peanuts characters grew up? Would their grief go from good to bad in their teen years?

The Creative Motion Players are speculating on the answer to that with Bert V. Royal's "Dog Sees God."

The parody play presents teens modeled after Lucy, Linus and Charlie Brown, with characters questioning their sexuality, experimenting with their identities and smoking marijuana while reeling from the death of a certain beloved dog.

"For many people, high school is a tough time because we are trying to figure out who we are and how we fit into the social fabric of our world,” Ryan said in an email. “The popularity of the Peanuts and the universality of identity struggle makes this work iconic and relevant to all of us."

The production will be the first in the Creative Motion Players Young Professional Series.

"We will be working primarily with current theater majors and recent graduates," says CMP founder and "Dog Sees God" producer Lauren Biscaldi. "While we still want to engage and involve the community, the works in this series aim to create a professional atmosphere through more challenging works."
