The Charles H. Bullock Elementary School was formerly known as Rand Elementary School and was renamed for the first director of the African American YMCA. Starting in September 2010, it will be housed in a newly constructed facility which includes an Exploration Zone, in which children can interact with creatures in their natural habitats. The curriculum focuses on the environment, with students learning about sustainable living and the preservation of natural resources. The school holds many annual events including the "Eco-Fair" and a schoolwide talent show. The principal is Dr. Barbara Weller.
