First of all, he is only accused not convicted. Everyone is innocent in this country until provenRead More otherwise, or at least they were when I woke up in America this morning. However, bail is set according to the risk of the defendant not showing up at trial. If the defendant is facing serious jail time or has dual citizenship, or really likely to leave the country because he has family somewhere abroad, then the judge will ask for a high bail. It works on reverse, too. If someone doesn't have much to lose financially, (no family, home, assets) there's not much to ensure he sticks around for trial. The judge will set a high bail. I guess the fact that this defendant is a former Rutgers student must mean he is less of a flight risk? Um, no.

Don't fix the bail system. For once it's working in our favor (our being the rest of society thatRead More prefers criminals stay locked up). Too many criminals on the street already. Leave him in prison. He shouldn't be allowed to have bail for his terrorist acts.

Isn't he supposed to get a speedy trial? WTF with 2 years? Either they have evidence against himRead More or not.

YES, clamp down on society's main disease---drugs. They go hand in hand w/guns & murders. WorkRead More with young children--show them the importance of intelligence & respect for others. Patience & fortitude needed to set goals & new, productive habits. Have more Boys & Girls Clubs to build esteem & keep them off dangerous streets, where predators enlist drug sellers, guns become available easily & the violent cycle starts.People HAVE succeeded to then live better lives. Thank God for this new program -- get the scum into prison where they can't continue their immoral lives. Let the rest of the populace USE their neighborhoods' parks, sidewalks, stores and entertainment spaces in safety!
The Huey is lowered into place on the plaza.

While the sound of the whop whop whop of a Huey's far off blades always meant help or trouble toRead More every one who heard them? That sound always made me stop to discern if I was hearing automatic heavy weapon fire. To this very day that sound gets my attention day or night awake or asleep.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning

I remember not so long ago when this mayor ran for office. Scads of my well to do privilegedRead More friends in town (the country club and tennis club crowds) were in a total uproar. He's going to destroy the town. He's an idiot. I am not getting involved anymore. I'm selling my house tomorrow. Etc., etc. Not one moved or sold their house. The guy seems to be doing an admirable job. And personally I see none of the shameless PC grandstanding of Jerry Fried. But none of my friends who ranted and raved for weeks and months even seem to rememer all the predictions of certain financial gloom and doom. Not one.
Michael Kinzig April 16, 2014 at 06:51 pm
So one PC er rave s about your good black mayor?? Montclair will soon be Newark light. ... Just youRead More wait and see.... Liberalism is a disease that will kill many hosts before it is seen for the Ill ness that it is. And, you will deserve it. Fools .

Dumb idea...Keeping people car dependent even after no major delays reported on day1....proposingRead More toll hikes is always a constant w/ these clowns, but the minute they suspect that commuters may commit to a more sustainable method of travel, they decide there is room in the budget to drop the cost of tolls....maybe the assemblyman has friends in the oil business.
Eric April 15, 2014 at 06:15 pm
It's the cost of having a car. Deal with it or figure out how to use public transportation.
Alex C April 16, 2014 at 07:19 pm
FIX, why would he need a friend in the oil business? The government profits far more off theRead More gasoline sales than the oil companies do. For every gallon sold, the gas companies themselves profit about 2-3 cents per gallon, depending on the company and the year. The State of NJ profits 33 cents per gallon, and the federal government profits 18.5 cents per gallon.
