In the summer of 1974 I was an apprentice with The Phoenix Repertory Company in East Hampton. I was 17 and away from home for the first time. Ms. Brookes spiritually took me in and was endlessly kind to me. She was a monumental actor but she was also an exceptional human being. I will never forget her kindness, her love of cats and her grace.   more ›
