Montclair Teachers Honored with Judy and Josh Weston Award

The winners of this year's Judy and Josh Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching were recently announced.

Sixteen Montclair teachers were named and recognized for their continual efforts in the school system.  The Judy and Josh Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching is given out annually to teachers in the Montclair public school system. The awards acknowledge teacher's for their creativity, high expectations, energy and concern for students. The awards come with a cash reward of $2,000. The administration of The Judy and Josh Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching is exclusively by parents. Nominations are solicited from students, parents and guardians of students currently attending the Montclair public schools.  This year the committee received more than 400 nominations, of which 177 teachers being nominated. A selection committee of …

Watch Montclair Film Festival Kidz Shortz Winner: Grace Gorant

A short film by Grace Gorant, of Montclair, won the grand prize among students in seventh to ninth grade.

Montclair Film Festival has posted the winning films from its second Kidz Shortz filmmaking competition.  Above, you can watch Grace Gorant's winning film "Free Your Imagination." Gorant is from Montclair and attends Mt. Hebron Elementary School. She won the grand prize in the seventh- to ninth-grade category.  The Montclair Film Festival announced the winners of its Kidz Shortz competition earlier in March. This year, there were 111 registrants from 17 towns in New Jersey, 23 states and three countries.

Montclair Presented with Four People's Choice Awards Thursday

After the 14 winners were announced earlier this year, the awards were presented at the 2012 Discover Jersey Arts People's Choice Awards Ceremony.

Montclair won big in the 2012 Discover Jersey Arts People's Choice Awards, which invited arts lovers to vote for their favorite New Jersey–based nonprofit arts groups in a wide variety of categories. People's Choice Awards: Montclair Wins Big

Montclair was voted to have the best downtown arts district in the state in the fifth annual JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards.

  The arts continue to thrive in Montclair.  Montclair carried four out of the 14 categories in the fifth annual JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards where nearly 7,000 total ballots were cast.  The Montclair organizations won the following: The township's vibrant arts community garnered 1,078 votes out of nearly 5,000, and barely beat out Red Bank for first place.  Montclair based organizations were also nominated in three other categories.  The winners were announced last week. The awards will be formally bestowed to the winning organizations during a ceremony at The Governor's Conference on Tourism held on March 20 through 22 in Atlantic City. The other winners in the People's Choice Awards were:
