Bands Take Center Stage on Church Street

Wayne Robbins captured the event Saturday in his most recent installment of 'Inside Montclair.'

Church Street was turned into a concert venue this weekend as bands took the stage to launch the start of a month of events in Montclair's downtown.  Hundreds came out to Church Street Saturday to enjoy the sunny spring weather and the start of Montclair Center Business Improvement District's music and art series Montclair Center Stage. Montclair BID Offers Free Business Branding Webinar

You can watch 'The Art of Branding' now on Montclair Patch.

How a business identifies itself in a community is crucial to long-term success. That is why the Montclair Business Improvement District wants to help local businesses with this free webinar about the do's and don'ts of branding.  "The Art of Branding a Community" was presented by Montclair BID last week at Phil Cantor Photography, at 26 Lackawanna Plaza. The webinar was given by speaker Roger Brooks, of Destination Development International.  This hour-long online video will be available until March 22.

Restaurants to Pay More for Sidewalk Dining

The Montclair Township Council increases fees, regulations for restaurants who offer outside seating.

  If restaurants want to set up tables on Montclair sidewalks, they will now pay more to use the public space.  Montclair Township Council voted Tuesday to increase permit fees and regulations for restaurant owners who offer outdoor seating. However, a restaurant owner and the Montclair Center Business Improvement District say it strikes a fair balance. “The Montclair Center Business Improvement District is pleased that the council listened to the complaints registered by restaurants and the BID,” said Luther Flurry, director the Montclair BID.   Restaurant owners previously paid a permit fee of $150 a year for outdoor seating. What Do YOU Think About Montclair Center?

BID survey offers chance to win $100 gift check.

For the first time ever, the Montclair Center Business Improvement District (the BID) is trying to get a comprehensive look at how all of different constituents view Montclair Center and solicit suggestions to make it better. The BID has set up an online survey for Montclair Center customers and stakeholders.  This survey is for locals and non-locals; Montclair Center fans and detractors; diners, shoppers, employees business owners and casual visitors.
