The Montclair State team's first loss came in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Basketball Tournament.
The women’s basketball team at Montclair State University suffered its first loss of the season Friday and was bumped out of the NCAA Divisional III Tournament, but not before securing the longest winning streak in school history. The Red Hawks' 29-game winning streak ended last week with a loss to Christopher Newport, 83-70, at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., in the semifinals of the NCAA Sectional Tournament. A basketball player at Hofstra University who lives in Montclair was arrested along with three other students Thursday for burglarizing multiple dorm rooms at the school. Dallas Anglin, 18, was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department for allegedly burglarizing six dormitory rooms with three other basketball players between Oct. 4 and Nov. 5 on the university’s campus, in Hempstead, NY, authorities said. According to Nassau police, Anglin, a freshman, and three other students worked together to raid the dorm rooms. In some instances, some of the accused basketball players distracted students while the others burglarized the empty rooms, according to Nassau County Police Lt.
