Park Sports Bar Has Liquor License Suspended

The future of the bar remains uncertain as the owner puts 'all options' on the table.

  The doors of a local pub closed this week as it began to serve a monthlong suspension of its liquor license.  Park Sports Bar & Restaurant, at 30 South Park St., had its liquor license suspended last week for 30 days by the township council acting as the Alcoholic Beverages Control Board. The bar’s sentence began at midnight on Monday.  The bar is a popular pub and eatery located in the heart of Montclair's downtown. The owner, Jeff Melnikoff, pleaded no contest on Oct. 11 to three charges of excessive noise, fighting outside the bar, and serving too much alcohol to a patron.  Melnikoff said while he was disappointed with the decision, he was not surprised the board voted to suspend his license.   “It is sad that [the board] had to take …

I guess it is all over for the owner of South Park. Yesterday I walked past the closed down place and in the window is a For Rent sign. And yes the rumors are only getting bigger on that developer that supposedly purchased the liquor license. Cheers! Oktoberfest Comes to Montclair

Amanti Vino celebrates the traditional German festival again this year at the Wellmont Theatre on Oct. 19.

  ‘Tis the season for beer lovers.  The fourth annual Montclair Oktoberfest will be held once again at the Wellmont Theatre on Oct. 19. This one-day festival put on by Amanti Vino will feature food, music, wine and lots of beer.  “We are going to take over the whole theater,” said Deborah Hirsh, Amanti Vino's store manager.
