The Welcome Sweet Springtime Egg Hunt will be this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Glenfield Park. Councilor Renee Baskerville and the Fourth Ward Collaborative are hosting the egg hunt, which promises great fun for kids and adults with egg relays, sac races, face painting, music, food and plenty more. The egg hunt will be for children between 2 and 9 years old, and older children between 10 and 13 can participate in a hat-making contest. Children can also have their picture taken with Dr. Bunny. The Upper Montclair Business Association is sponsoring its 4th annual "Eggonomic Stimulus Package" for 2012—while supplies last. Here's how it works: Walk into any participating merchant, ask for an egg and—voila—you will receive coupons and gift certificates to use throughout Upper Montclair through April 30, 2012. There are 1,500 eggs available and each egg has three or more coupons and gift certificates inside. Last year, a total of $20,000 in coupons and gift certificates were given away—and this year should be no different. "It's really a very small way for the businesses to thank our customers for their support," according to the UMBA. Fourth Ward Councilor Dr. Renee Baskerville, along with a variety of other people and organizations, is hosting an afternoon of springtime fun on Saturday, April 7 that includes music, an egg hunt, sack races, face painting, light refreshments, and hat decorating contests for all ages. The event, dubbed Spring Fling Egg Hunt, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in Glenfield Park in Montclair. Baskerville said this event is not to celebrate Easter—but spring.
