Monday is President's Day. This is a federal holiday, so United States Post offices, banks and all government offices will be closed. Traditionally known as Washington's Birthday, this federal holiday is celebrated the third Monday of February. It was enacted in 1879 by Congress for government offices in Washington, D.C., and expanded later in 1885 to include all federal offices. The Montclair School District will also be closed Monday and Tuesday for President's Day, and Wednesday for a teacher's workshop. The district had held Wednesday, Feb. 20 in abeyance in the event there was a need for a second snow make-up day. The first snow make-up day for students was Friday, March 29, Good Friday. • The Montclair Community Pre-K will hold an informational workshop, titled The Benefits of Becoming Foster or Adoptive Parents, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school, 49 Orange Road. This year, the two are working together with the Salvation Army to make sure that children in need have gifts this holiday time.
