The Montclair Township Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building.
The Montclair Township Council will introduce an ordinance governing community gardens, chicken coops and beehives at its Tuesday council meeting, at 7 p.m. in the municipal chambers, at 205 Claremont Ave. The full council agenda can be found in the photo gallery of this article. The council will also continue its departmental budget hearings at its meeting on Tuesday. The Montclair Public Library and Montclair Police Department are scheduled to present their budget requests. The meetings will be televised live on TV34 and streaming live at http://montclair.peg.tv. A once-a-year chance to see inside the Van Vleck House.
Van Vleck House and Gardens, the lovely early 20th century home and nearly six acres of gardens set in Montclair, is probably best known for its beautiful 90-year-old wisteria plant that has taken over the portico on the back of the house, or for its yearly plant sale. "It's not just the two weeks in May (when the wisteria is in bloom), the garden is beautiful 12 months a year," says Jonne McCarron, Van Vleck's Executive Director. And while many have come to see the wisteria and the various gardens on the property, the house itself is off limits to the public for all but one time of year. And now is that time.
