The Montclair 2014 Super Bowl Host Committee's NFL Draft Night Party brought out the hardcore NFL watchers and the less fanatic Thursday night.
Thursday’s NFL Draft kicked off the start of a year of festivities and events in Montclair leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII. A portion of Glenridge Avenue was closed down in front of The Clubhouse Thursday night as residents gathered there to watch the NFL Draft and celebrate the coming of the Super Bowl to the Meadowlands in eight months. Montclair will begin leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII with an NFL Draft Night party on Thursday, April 25. The Montclair 2014 Committee will organize the party at The Clubhouse, located at 131 Glenridge Ave., between 7:30 and 11 p.m. Watch the NFL draft on television as it happens live from Radio City Music Hall. Commentary at the kickoff party will be provided by Montclair TV34’s Three Wise Men — WFAN call-in faves Mike from Montclair and his fellow sports aficionados Al from White Plains and Dennis from Yonkers. See what's happening in Montclair this week.
Monday begins water main work in the area around Orange and Brooklawn roads. Residents in the area will have their water turned off and may experience disruptions until Wednesday. The Montclair Water Bureau will use a “hyper-flushing” process in the south end of town to improve water flows. The work will require shutting off water service in the area for a number of hours each day. Some water discoloration may occur after the work is completed, however once the mains are flushed, the discoloration will disappear. Former New York Giants running back, Tiki Barber, and former NFL quarterback, Jay Fiedler, lend a hand at Temple B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills.
Two former NFL players, Tiki Barber and Jay Fiedler, helped raise about $3,500 for Superstorm Sandy victims at this year's Temple B'nai Jeshurun annual Chanukah party on Sunday in Short Hills. Barber, former New York Giants running back, and Fiedler, former NFL quarterback, were on hand at the party to sign autographs and take pictures with congregants. A few lucky kids even got to catch passes from the former quarterback in the youth lounge. "It was a phenomenal day," co-president Temple B'nai Jeshurun Brotherhood, Jeff Schneider, said. "Jay and Tiki were so incredibly generous with their time, their enthusiasm and their energy."
