Best Black Friday Deals at Target, Walmart and More

Ready, get set, go shopping! The bargain hunting starts early this year, so Patch has compiled the best big box discounts to give you a head start.

  If you want the best Black Friday deals, you'll barely have enough time to gobble down your turkey; forget about your pumpkin pie. Stores are opening earlier than ever on Thanksgiving to grab Black Friday shoppers. Toys 'R Us, Walmart, Kmart and Sears open their doors at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Target opens at 9 p.m. Many others open at midnight or very early Friday morning. Several stores are offering waves of doorbusters. Many also are advertising online deals, which include free shipping, and Black Friday prices all day Thanksgiving. Is It Too Soon for Christmas Shopping?

It's not even Halloween yet and some stores are already putting up Christmas decorations. Is it too soon to deck the halls or are you ready for the 2012 Holiday Season to begin?

It's an annual question for merchants and shoppers: How soon is too soon to deck the malls and shopping centers for the Christmas holiday season? Some stores have already begun the process. Christmas music, decorations and layaway ads can already been seen in the shopping aisle at local stores. Halloween decorations still dominate, but signs of Christmas are already creeping in. So what do you think? When is too early for the Christmas shopping season to begin? Do the decorations and Christmas ads entice you to buy early or make you grit your teeth and wish for more time before the holiday rush begins?

Essex Fells to Stage Second Holiday House Tour

Self-guided tour will feature homes decorated for the holidays and a gift boutique.

Some of the most distinctive homes in Essex Fells will open their doors to the public in December to help support the borough’s elementary school. The Essex Fells PTA and the Essex Fells Foundation for Educational Excellence will stage their second Holiday Home Tour & Boutique on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Homes will be decked out for the holidays with special touches added by local designers, artists and florists. The tour will feature a variety of houses from grand to cozy, Tudor to colonial, new to old, displaying an array of decorating styles.
