Liquor License Created for Potential Hotel in Montclair [Poll]

Mayor Robert Jackson said potential investors want to be assured if a hotel is constructed at Centro Verde, a liquor license will be available.

If the Montclair Center Gateway Project includes a hotel, the owners will have a liquor license waiting exclusively for them. The Montclair Council passed legislation Tuesday to create a new liquor license for a hotel in town. State law allows township’s to issue a new liquor license to any hotel or motel that contains at least 100 guest rooms.   Mayor Robert Jackson said investors are considering constructing a hotel in the pending Gateway Project, also known as Centro Verde. Why is more commerce good for everyone? Hotels offer cheap-labor jobs--chamber-maids, bellhops, waiters/waitresses, janitors, etc., not high-wage jobs. Hotels bring in transient traffic and not local people.
