Superintendent of Montclair Schools Penny MacCormack recently released the following statement regarding school safety in the district. The press release comes days after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn., which left 20 children and seven adults dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The Montclair Public Schools district takes the security and safety of our children very seriously. The district has security procedures in place for all schools – schools are locked, unauthorized visitors are restricted and safety procedures are routinely practiced.
