Township attorney to draft ordinance which would prohibit smoking on grounds of public libraries.
Smoking may soon be prohibited outside Montclair’s two public libraries. The Montclair Council agreed Tuesday to have the township attorney draft an ordinance which would ban smoking on the grounds of both the Montclair Public Library on South Fullerton Avenue and the Bellevue Avenue Branch. Township Attorney Ira Karasick said the Montclair Library Board requested the ban, saying smokers detract non-smokers who may want to spend time on the plaza outside the main library. With smoking already prohibited inside the buildings, the ordinance would make the libraries completely smoke free.
