Spring Break, Municipal Budget Presentations in Week Ahead

Check out what's going on this week in Montclair.

Spring break for Montclair District Schools begins Monday and will extend through Friday.  The Montclair Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal building, at 205 Claremont Ave. A meeting agenda is attached as a pdf of this article.  The final departmental budget hearings will be presented to the council Tuesday. The budget presentations on the agenda are for the Department of Community Services, Health Department and capital budget   The meeting will televised live on TV34 and streaming online at montclair.peg.tv. Last week, Montclair Police Chief David Sabagh presented a $13.6 million police budget to the council, an increase of about $855,000 from 2012. Former Councilor Cary Africk issues a statement as council members are sworn in on Sunday, July 1.

  The new Township Council was sworn in during a ceremony on Sunday, July 1. They included 1st Ward Councilman Bill Hurlock, 2nd Ward Councilwoman Robin Schlager, At-large Councilman Rich McMahon, 3rd Ward Councilman Sean Spiller, 4th Ward Councilwoman Renee Baskerville, Mayor Robert Jackson, and Deputy Mayor and At-large Councilman Robert Russo.
