What Are You Doing St. Patrick's Day Weekend?

There are still parades and plenty of Irish pubs to hang out in leading up to the holiday.

There is plenty to do this St. Patrick's Day weekend in Montclair.  Your Montclair pub crawl can begin at Egan & Son's Restaurant and Pub, located at 118 Walnut St., who will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a dance party starting at 8 p.m. in an outdoor tent on Saturday. On Sunday, the party at Egan & Son's will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and be accompanied by live entertainment and festivities.  Or you can stop by Tierney's Tavern, located at 136-138 Valley Road, where you can meet old friends and the Guinness is on tap all year long.  Your bar crawl can continue at The Office Bar & Grill, located at 619 Bloomfield Ave., or at the DLV Lounge, at 300 Bloomfield Ave.  What are you doing this holiday weekend? NJ Transit, DeCamp Bus Lines Cross-Honoring Tickets

NJ Transit plans to operate a regular weekday schedule on Friday. Depending on the impact of the storm, it may be necessary to modify service as conditions change.

As snow continues to fall on Friday, it is sure to give headaches to commuters trying to get home for the weekend.  Here are the latest updates from DeCamp Bus Lines and NJ Transit as of 2:45 p.m. on Friday. Stay tuned for further updates.  DeCamp Bus Lines DeCamp Bus Lines will be cross-honoring NJ Transit bus and rail tickets through the end of Friday. The bus line posted on its website to anticipate delays. NJ Transit NJ Transit will cross-honor tickets statewide through the end of Friday. NJ Transit will allow customers to use tickets or passes on an alternate travel mode — rail, bus or light rail, as well as private carrier buses.  All customers are strongly advised to check njtransit.com before traveling for up-to-the-minute service …

How Long is Your Commute, Montclair?

Montclair commuters spend an average of 26.3 minutes traveling to work everyday, according to WNYC. Does that seem correct?

Montclair is a commuter town, and many former New Yorkers find themselves drawn to greener pastures west of the Hudson River.  But after making a move to a larger home in the suburbs, many end up commuting Monday through Friday into New York City. And if you travel between 45 and 90 minutes to work, you are considered a "mega commuter" by the U.S. Census Bureau.  The Garden State's proximity and accessibility to New York City has contributed to it getting the distinction of having the second-highest percentage of commuters making mega commutes — 14.8 percent.  New Jersey only trails New York in mega commuters, which as 16.2 percent, and is well above the national average of 8.1. percent.  According the WNYC Commuter Map above, Montclair …

PATH Service To Midtown Manhattan Suspended For Next Two Weekends

The Port Authority says it will speed up repairs to the Hoboken PATH station.

  The Port Authority will suspended PATH service to midtown Manhattan for the next two weekends, according to a news release from the city of Hoboken. PATH service between Newark and 33rd street will stop running after 10 p.m. on Friday and will resume at 5 a.m. on Monday. The Newark to World Trade Center line will continue to run between New Jersey and New York from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9, and next Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16. PATH's Acting Director Stephen Kingsberry said it's a temporary inconvenience that will speed up restoration of full, 24-hour PATH service across the system. The Porth Authority has been shutting down PATH service to 33rd Street between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day. …

Midtown Direct Resumes Regular Service Monday

Beginning Monday, Midtown Direct service is back to a regular schedule. NJT will operate nearly 90 percent of normal peak service.

  Good news, commuters. Three weeks after Hurricane Sandy, NJ Transit will restore weekday service to the Montclair-Boonton Line starting Monday. Midtown Direct service between Montclair State University and New York will operate on a regular schedule, which can be found here. Service between Hackettstown and Hoboken on Monday will run on a modified schedule, which can be found here.  Starting Monday, Eastbound service -- to Hoboken/New York -- will operate approximately once an hour until noon, and then there will be limited service to New York only. Westbound service -- from New York/Hoboken -- will be available before 1 p.m. After that, westbound service will operate every 60 to 90 minutes. According to the NJ Tranist website, commuters…
