Power Outages Darken 4 Schools Wednesday
All after school activities are canceled on Thursday, according to the district.
[Updated: 8:05 p.m. Wednesday] The first day of school for Montclair students in more than a week since Hurricane Sandy was interrupted by power outages today. The following four schools experienced intermittent power outages on Wednesday between 3 and 5 p.m., said Superintendent Penny MacCormack. Students attending aftercare and enrichment programs had to be picked up early by their parents. Due to the potential of continuing outages, the district is canceling all after school activities on Thursday. The YMCA aftercare program will take place as scheduled, and decision has yet to be announced about Montclair High School athletics on Thursday.
