Glenfield Middle School Principal Resigns Over BB Gun Incident

Starting Monday Victoria Skopak will take over as interim principal of the school until the end of the year.

An investigation into a student found with a BB gun at Glenfield Middle School last week has led to the resignation of the school's principal.  Principal Charles Miller will resign immediately from Glenfield Middle School, Superintendent Penny MacCormack announced Thursday in a press release. An investigation by the Montclair School District into the BB gun incident on April 24 led the district to make this "unexpected" administrative change at the school, added MacCormak. “The Glenfield community is a strong, cohesive and vibrant one," wrote MacCormack in the press release. "I am confident that we will weather this unexpected transition, continuing to keep the needs of our children as our top priority." Miller was removed from the school …

And Barista now has the MEA letter up...this just keeps getting more and more complicated. There was no way he could have lead the school after all of this...it was not managed well at all, at any point. This is sad for all of us, we need to move on.   more ›

New Year Will Bring Two New Middle School Principals

The Montclair Board of Education unanimously appointed new principals at Mt. Hebron and Renaissance middle schools on Monday.

  Two Montclair middle schools will have new principals to begin the new year.   The Board of Education of Montclair unanimously appointed Jill Sack as principal of Mt. Hebron Middle School, and Barbara Weller as principal of Renaissance Middle School at Rand. Both will begin their tenure on Jan. 2, 2013. “We are all very aware these days that having an effective teacher in the classroom is tightly correlated to student achievement ...,” said Superintendent Penny MacCormack. “Second only to an effective teacher is an effective principal.”  Sacks, who has spent 24 years in the district, will move from her current position as principal of the Renaissance School to head Mt. So many teachers have the certification in our district, know the students, know the schools; strengths and weaknesses. Why aren't these young professionals given the opportunities?
