High School SAT Scores in Essex County [Interactive Map]

View the average SAT scores and median household incomes of more than 20 public high schools in Essex County to see where Montclair ranked.

The higher the median income of a school district, the higher the SAT scores in Essex County.  The only eight public high schools to meet the state’s average SAT benchmark of 1550 are in school districts where median incomes are at least $88,000, according to the New Jersey School Performance Report. The eight schools’ median incomes are well above the county average of $55,876 and state average of $71,180.  All but two of the 19 public high schools in Essex County that did not meet the state SAT benchmark were in communities with a median income below $88,000. West Orange and Cedar Grove were the only high schools in the county with median incomes above $88,000 that failed to meet the state benchmark.   The highest average SAT scores came…

New College Scorecard Ranks Montclair State University

The average tuition cost has increased 34.5 percent from 2007 to 2009 for MSU, which is the highest among similar institutions, according to the federal College Scorecard.

  The rankings are in for Montclair State University. A new interactive College Scorecard was released Wednesday by the Obama administration which offers students and parents basic information about a college. The website quickly offers information regarding a school’s graduation rates, tuition costs, average borrowing rates and employment history of former graduates. So what does the new scorecard say about Montclair State?
