Where's Santa? Track Him Live

The North American Aerospace Defense Command has a website that now offers a Santa tracker mobile app to follow the jolly man's magical flight.

They sent him their wish lists, sat on his lap, and left cookies and milk for his arrival. Now the only thing left for children to do is track Santa's progress as he delivers gifts around the world on Christmas Eve. Thanks to the folks behind the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) website, families worldwide can now follow Santa's Christmas journey in real time. The tradition started in 1955 after an advertisement for Sears Roebuck & Co. misprinted a telephone number for a special "Santa hotline." Instead of reaching Kris Kringle, the number put kids through to the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) Commander-in-Chief’s operations, according to a description on the NORAD Tracks Santa Facebook page, which has more than …

Santa Delivers Presents to Montclair Children

The annual Montclair Police Department toy drive collected more than 500 gifts for the Salvation Army, and delivered gifts to more than 350 kids around town.

When Santa rolls into Montclair, he ditches the sleigh and reindeer for a pickup truck and a police escort.  A cavalcade of Montclair Police Department vehicles lead Santa Claus from the department’s headquarters to the Salvation Army Citadel on Trinity Street on Tuesday. The procession of sirens and music -- with the armored Critical Response Team truck decked out in lights like a mobile Christmas tree -- was the culmination of the department’s annual toy drive.  Behind the entourage of police vehicles was a large tow-truck whose rear bed was full of toys which the department was donating to the Salvation Army -- more than 500 of them.  “It was a departmentwide effort,” said the officer dressed as Santa Claus. “It’s a great tradition." …

Mark your calendars, because Santa is coming to Montclair.  The annual holiday tree lighting in the Church Street Plaza will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday. There will be music by the Montclair Community Band and plethora of fun winter entertainment. Jay Isherwood is a Certifiable Christmas Nut!

Radio host parlays his passion for the holiday into a year-round job.

For most of us, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but Jay Isherwood’s Christmas spirit lasts all year long. And, apparently he isn’t the only one who feels this way. He is the host and program director of an Internet radio station, www.MerryChristmasRadio.com, which plays Christmas songs every day, 365 days a year.  As his station boasts, he is a certifiable Christmas nut. Last December, 70,000 listeners from all over the globe tuned into www.Live365.com to listen to the station and somewhere between 2,000 to 3,000 people were still listening in July, and throughout the off season. Isherwood anticipates the numbers will be even higher this year. This former Livingston resident always had an interest in entertainment, but it wasn’t …
