Music, Art to Fill Montclair Streets This Spring

See the bevy of upcoming shows, activities and events coming up in the next three weeks in town that will be put on by the Montclair Business Improvement District.

Spring is here and climbing temperatures will be accompanied by music throughout Montclair Center every Saturday.  Bands will take the stage in different venues throughout the Montclair Center Business District on Saturdays. Sponsored by the Montclair Business Improvement District, these free concerts will offer different tunes every hour and new bands each week. [Poll] Will You Do Your Holiday Shopping at Work?

Nearly half of Americans are expected to spend some time holiday shopping online while at work before Christmas, according to a recent study.

If you shop online while you are at work this holiday season, you won't be alone.  Nearly half of all Americans will spend some time shopping online while on the clock before Dec. 25, according to a recent study by CareerBuilder.  Of more than 3,900 workers surveyed from coast to coast, 49 percent said they would browse the Internet to find holiday gifts while at work. The numbers are similar to the past two years, according to the study.  In addition, women were found to be more likely to shop online while at work (43 percent) compared to men (36 percent).  The survey was conducted between Aug. 13 and Sept. 6 by Harris Interactive for CareerBuilder, and also surveyed more than 2,400 employers.   And office shopping will only increase as …

'Black Friday Creep' Spurs Online Petition Drives to Save Thanksgiving

Thousands are signing an online petitions against Black Friday store opening hours that have been pushed into Thanksgiving Day.

  The trend for stores to open earlier and earlier to take advantage of Black Friday sales -- even to the point of opening in the evening on Thanksgiving Day -- has prompted an online petition drive to give Thanksgiving back to employees and their families. The original petition was reportedly created by a Target employee upset that the retail giant is opening on Thanksgiving and requiring employees to work instead of spending time with their families. Target stores will open their doors at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving. As of Tuesday morning, there are more than 179,000 signatures on the petition.
