Art dealer Kathy Imlay's VōTLO Couture merges art and fashion.
A Montclair start-up that merges art with fashion just got the kickstart it needed. With only a handful of days remaining, VōTLO Couture has surpassed its fundraising goal on Kickstarter.com, raising just over $30,000 in pledges. VōTLO Couture, or Vessel of Things Less Ordinary, is the vision of Montclair art dealer Kathy Imlay who is taking art off the walls and infusing it into women’s wardrobes. But the goal of VōTLO Couture is much more profound than fashion. Imlay wants to use the brand to create awareness around a key issue of our time—empowering girls and women around the world. The results are in for Suburban Essex Magazine's Best of Essex 2012 reader's choice poll—and many businesses in Montclair have come out on top in their categories. Montclair alone had five businesses awarded a "Best of the Best" designation. The new designation goes to businesses in suburban Essex County that have received the most votes in their category for four consecutive years. Montclair's Best of the Best winners include: Applegate Farm (ice cream or frozen yogurt), Osteria Giotto (Italian), Raymond's (brunch), Dai Kichi Japanese Restaurant (sushi) and Montclair Feed and Pet Supply (pet supply and services). Governor's new gas plan and restrictions imposed by station owners results in slightly shorter waits in some places, same story in others.
At noon Saturday, Gov. Chris Christie's even-odd gas rationing mandate went into effect for 12 New Jersey counties, including Bergen, Essex, Morris, Monmouth, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Warren. The result, in some cases, was modestly shorter gas lines than have been seen in the days since Sandy hit. Of course, other stations featured the same long lines and interminable waits that have dotted North Jersey in recent days.
