Have You Seen South Park Street Lately?

The revamped street will be celebrated on Sept. 15.

A median has been created and businesses such as Leone's have set up tables and chairs outside their front doors. South Park Street Opens To Car Traffic

Work crews completed paving work on Monday.

Work crews completed the paving of South Park Street on Monday and the street is now completely open to traffic, according to Katya Wowk, the township's communications director. Traffic markings will be put down on Tuesday with the contractor spending the rest of the week cleaning up the site and addressing various outstandinng items such as brick layout repairs, she said. The project still awaits final inspection and PSE&G still needs to turn on electrical power. In addition, two decorative street lights must be installed, as well as the raised planter concrete caps which are still in the process of being fabricated. South Park Street Project Nears Completion

This will be final week of major construction.

The much-anticipated $1 million South Park Street redevelopment project, which entered its 20th week Monday, is only a few final steps away from completion, township officials said. On Monday, the township released its latest update on the project, saying that work will be completed this week on the center median installation and on the cobble bands crossing the roadway at each end. The update said: The last handicap accessible ramp on the southeast corner of Church Street will be constructed this week. Due to the nature of the contractor's work this week, the northbound travel lane will generally be closed during the day, but will be open at night and over the weekend. This will be the final week of major construction on South Park …

S. Park Street Construction Project Enters 15th Week

But when will road paving be completed?

The much-anticipated $1 million South Park Street redevelopment project entered its 15th week today. Over the past few days, the sidewalk on the west side of the street has been completed up to the Sharron Miller Academy of Dance at 14 South Park Street. Handicap ramps on Bloomfield Avenue also have been completed and work has begun on bump-out construction. This week, that bump-out work will continue on Church Street at the southwest corner (Starbucks) and southeast corner (Chez Renee) intersection of South Park and Church streets. Work may also continue on the curb along the west side of the street, according to an update released by the Township of Montclair today.
