But in this town there's always something going on! 1) The Township Council meets Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. to discuss liquor licenses, South Park Street, dissolving the Montclair Parking Authority, and various other matters. Your guide to what's coming up this week around town.
You'd think that, at the end of July, it might be fairly quiet around Montclair. But in this town there's always something going on! 1) Emma Axelrod, Sammi Siegel, and Elena Tsemberis—three Montclair High School students—will deliver more than 130,000 signatures from their Change.org petitions, calling on the Commission on Presidential Debates to appoint a woman moderator for one of three 2012 U.S. presidential debates. No woman has moderated a debate between candidates for the U.S. presidency since 1992. They will deliver the petition on Tuesday in Washington, D.C. Your guide to what's coming up in town this week.
You'd think that, in mid-July, it might be fairly quiet around Montclair. But with controversial and complicated tax bills hitting mailboxes on Friday, this week will no doubt prove to be anything but quiet. Here's what's coming up: On Tuesday, the new Township Council will hold its first public regularly scheduled meeting. On the agenda is a resolution establishing a fiscal policy regarding municipal debt. You can also bet there will be a few puzzled homeowners on hand, asking questions about the recent tax bill.
