Round the Clock PATH Service Restored

The Port Authority announced the restoration of 24/7 service. The Hoboken-WTC line remains suspended for now.

  For the first time since Hurricane Sandy last fall, PATH service will be 24/7, according to an announcement from the Port Authority on Wednesday morning. As of Wednesday night, PATH trains will again be running between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The round the clock service has been restored on the Hoboken to 33rd Street line, Newark to World Trade Center Line and the Journal Square to 33rd Street line. Service between Hoboken and the World Trade Center remains suspended for now and could take at least another month.  "Currently, the Port Authority is awaiting delivery of key switch and signal parts from a third-party manufacturer," the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey stated in its press release on Wednesday. NJ Transit to Cross-Honor Tickets Due to Storm

Winter weather event expected to bring rain, snow to region on Tuesday.

You know December is just around the corner when stories like this start coming out. As the region prepares for winter while continuing to recover from Sandy, another storm is predicted to hit the area late Monday evening into Tuesday, providing rain and snow and ensuring messy commutes. NJ Transit will cross-honor tickets all day on Tuesday, "enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode-rail, bus or light rail," according to a press release. "For example, customers who normally take the bus from Rutherford to the Port Authority Bus Terminal may use their bus pass on the train from Rutherford to New York Penn Station. Officials Announce New Jersey Transit Safety Measures

Safety initiative comes after death of three teenagers in October

A variety of safety measures will sweep New Jersey Transit lines within the next year or so, transportation officials announced Wednesday, in an effort to reduce the number of accidental train deaths across the state. The safety improvements, which include improved signage, warning systems and educational programs, are the result of a three-month study by the Safety Along Railroads Leadership Oversight Committee, formed in wake of the deaths of three teenagers by New Jersey Transit trains last October. This illustrates one of the big benefits of aerial monorails, they aren't in the motorists way and people don't get killed on the tracks. They also don't get held up by snow or flooding and the infrastructure is much cheaper to keep in good repair.   more ›
