Residents Reject Water Well Proposed for Nishuane Park

The Montclair Council received an earful of criticism and objections on Tuesday about a township plan to build a water facility in Nishuane Park. For the third time in a week, residents spoke at the public podium and cited both environmental concerns and the loss of parkland as reasons for the council to nix the plan. “This project will once again be diverting land protected by Green Acres,” said resident Audrey Hawley. “There has been no information provided giving a compelling reason for activating this well. "To allow this project to go forward will cause a disturbance to wildlife, plant life and airspace, and change the landscape of the area.” Township representatives have cited the need to meet future growth, and the well’s long-…
