Montclair food pantry Toni's Kitchen is on YouTube. The nonprofit recently posted this video online describing the services it provides in Montclair. Director of Outreach Anne Mernin talks about the pantry's 30-year history, and additional training and educational programing offered. "We are so much more than soup," says Mernin in the video. "...We begin to breakdown the barriers that are out there to people reaching out for services." The pantry is located in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, at 73 S. Fullerton St.

The annual fundraiser for Toni's Kitchen will be on March 9.
Nutritionist Heidi Skolnik will be the featured guest at Montclair food ministry Toni's Kitchen annual benefit in March. The pantry's fundraiser, named an Alimentary Affair, will feature a reception, dinner, music and auctions. The event will take place be on March 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Woman's Club of Upper Montclair, at 200 Cooper Ave. Skolnik, who has worked with sports teams, including The New York Giants, is the author of two books on diet and nutrition and holds the position of Hospital Senior Nutritionist at The Women’s Sports Medicine Center at Hospital for Special Surgery. A benefit concert recently raised big bucks for a local soup kitchen in Montclair. Young local musicians from School of Rock Montclair donned costumes and makeup to perform "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" on Nov. 30. The benefit concert at the Unitarian Church raised $6,000 for Toni's Kitchen, the food ministry at St. Luke’s Episcopalian Church. “The concert was absolutely amazing, and the kids’ massive energy and great performances were impressive,” says Anne Mernin, director of Toni’s Kitchen. “The audience was singing along, dancing, and smiling throughout the entire show. An anonymous donor purchased a new industrial sized freezer for Toni's Kitchen last week.
A recent donation to a local food pantry will continue to give the gift of giving for years to come. On Nov. 28, a brand new freezer was installed at Toni’s Kitchen, a local soup kitchen in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The double-door, industrial sized freezer was donated anonymously by a resident, said Director of Outreach at the kitchen Anne Mernin. “They just asked us what we wanted,” said Mernin, “and we told them we really needed a freezer. So they said, ‘Okay, we’ll go and purchase one.’” The volunteer-run soup kitchen was debating about buying a new freezer for months, said Mernin yesterday as she glanced at handful of large turkeys and chicken cutlets already stored in the freezer. School of Rock band will put on a show at the Unitarian Church on Friday to raise funds for Toni's Kitchen.
Halloween will be resurrected this Friday with a student benefit concert for charity. The School of Rock has assembled its top young musicians to play the soundtrack from the 1975 cult movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Unitarian Church of Montclair, 67 Church St. All of the proceeds will benefit Toni's Kitchen, a local food ministry located at St. Lucke's Church. The concert is also a costume party. There will also be prizes for the best “Rocky Horror” costume provided by The Bellevue Theater and a free raffle for a $50 dining card to Ah Pizz.
