Erica Evans joined NOFA-NJ in January 2014 as the Beginner Farmer Program Coordinator. After graduating with a B.F.A. in costume design from SUNY Purchase, she worked several years as a freelance costume designer in NYC before transitioning her focus to sustainable agriculture. Born and raised in northern New Jersey, she has always harbored a passion for local food and farming. In 2011, Erica founded a community organization called North Jersey Locavores dedicated to supporting local farmers and promoting organic, sustainable farming methods within her community. In 2012, Erica worked on The 1780 Farm, a small, organic family farm in New Hampshire, and remains involved in their growth and outreach. She also advocates for municipal legislation in favor of urban homesteading. Erica is also the chapter leader for the Bergen-Passaic Counties Chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation. In her free time, she maintains her own organic garden and enjoys cooking for her friends and family.
