Snow Parking: Know the Rules in Montclair

Township asks for cooperation to keep roads cleared for plowing.

Up to 8 inches of snow could fall in the next 24 hours in Montclair, and the township needs everyone's cooperation to get roads cleared.

Residents are reminded that on-street parking is prohibited when it snows, until snowfall stops and roads are cleared.

Montclair residents with overnight street parking permits are to park on the south and west sides of the street Thursday night into Friday morning.

Daily overnight parking permits may not be used when streets are snow covered. The ordinance also applies to metered parking areas from 2 to 6 a.m.

Vehicles with handicapped placards/plates may remain legally parked. However, these vehicles may not be parked in the same location for more than 24 hours and other parking arrangements should be made to keep the streets clear for plowing.

On streets where overnight permit parking is allowed, the following regulations will go into effect during a snow event:

  • On even calendar days night permit parking shall be allowed on the North and East sides of the street.
  • On odd calendar days night permit parking shall be allowed on the South and West sides of the street.
Hourly limits and meter fees at the Fullerton Parking Deck (located next to the Park Street YMCA) and the Bay Street Deck will be waived when snow accumulations are greater than two inches and until 24 hours after snow has stopped falling.
