Small Business Saturday is the new Black Friday.
We all know the reasons to "Shop Small" — the money you spend goes back into your community, you support your neighbors' business, help employ local people, and get the personal touch you just can't find at big box stores. Do we even have to mention free wrapping!
This year, Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, is going to be bigger than ever. Shops all around town are planning special events and offers, Montclair Center's Festive Saturdays this week invites the community to "Shop for a Cause," and you can "Park on Patch" in the central business district, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — just look for the bagged meters!
12 Reasons to Shop Small in Montclair Saturday*
1. Saplings, 74 Church St., will offer 40% off all in-store merchandise (except chandeliers) on Friday and Saturday.
2. Barbara Eclectic and villagevogue.com are marking all clothing 20% off.

3. Hip Chic, 533 Bloomfield Ave., will mark clothes, shoes and handbags 20% off (excluding sale items) for Black Friday weekend. Plus, spend $175 or more and get a free infinity scarf as a special gift.
4. Mention St. Joseph's when you shop at The Haberdashery at Crookhorns, 51 Upper Montclair Plaza, or Piazza Della Sole, 620 Valley Road, on Saturday and a percentage of sales will go to the children's hospital.
5. Fleet Feet Sports, 603 Bloomfield Ave., will offer two special deals on Small Business Saturday: 20% off select footwear and 20% off apparel purchase of $100 or more (excluding sale items).
6. At Sorrelli Jewelry, 20 Church St., donate unwrapped gifts and receive Buy One, Get One 40% off.
7. Everything at Montclair Antique Center, 34 Church St., is 25% off for the day.
8. Nacessories, 20 Lackawanna Plaza, is offering $10 off on every purchase from noon to 4 p.m. A portion of all revenue will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.
9. Don't forget the pets! Montclair Feed & Pet Supply, 191 Glenridge Ave., will give you 25% off dog or cat treats when you bring in or buy food or litter for the Montclair Animal Shelter.
10. The Accessory Box, 30 S. Fullerton Ave., is giving away free earrings with every $30 purchase.
11. Bring in an item of clothing to donate at Culture Couture, 53 Church St., and receive 10% off your purchase.
12. Johari, 465 Bloomfield Ave., is offering 20% off your entire purchase (excludes sale items). Plus, get an additional 5% off when you bring in a clean used bra or new bra to donate to Bra Recyclers.
